Note #1. How to become a famous photographer / artist / writer.

In order to make reading my notes more useful, as well as interesting, I decided to put one question and answer into a single post. As I’ve got over 700 hundred questions stored in my email and social networks I think answering them will require over 100 posts. Anyway, let’s begin!

One of the major questions I am being asked is “how can an artist or a photographer promote himself / herself online and offline, in order to eventually create a market for their artworks”. To make a long story short – “how can an artist / photographer become famous”. My answer will be built only on my own experience. So let’s begin by answering the question “how to promote yourself OFFLINE”.

Suzdal, Vladimir Oblast, Russia.

Suzdal is one of the oldest Russian towns. In the 12th century it became the capital of the principality, with Moscow being merely one of its subordinate settlements. Nowadays Suzdal is the smallest of the Russian Golden Ring towns with the population of about 10000 (2015), but a major tourist attraction. Several of its monuments are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Each day I receive dozens of emails and comments with various questions on art, photography and writing. I would rather call them Life Notes, as I am going to speak here not so much on making art, but on how to promote the artworks you already created, and also on how to motivate oneself on creating something.

Images of Russia. Photo #1. Vladimir

Vladimir, Russia.

The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin on the Nerl River.

The monument is built in white stone, and has one dome and four columns in the interior. The church itself has not been touched by later generations; only the dome’s shape has been slightly changed, and porch-galleries were added in the 12th century, rebuilt in the 18th century and then demolished. The walls are still covered with 12th century stonecarvings.
